Hello Reader, A little update on the kitchen renovation. It’s mostly done now, I just have to get someone in to paint, put up the backsplash and put up a few shelves. I really love a few open shelves. I actually have a kitchen sink now. You really realize how much you depend on those simple things. It was two weeks without a sink and it really wasn’t terrible. We set up a make shift kitchen in the dining room using two basins from the dollar store for dishes. The worse part was having to take the water outside to dump it. I had prepared enough food for the two weeks that I put in the freezer to make things easier. We did use some paper plates and bowls too which cut down on the amount of dishes. I know.....the environment, right! But sometimes you just have to do it. Here are a few pics. I am loving the extra counter space, the lower pull out drawers and the pantry. These will make getting kitchenware and food out so much easier. I am really wanting to focus more on simplicity moving forward. As I am putting stuff back into the new cupboards, I am just wondering why we have so much stuff. It really feels like it is so easy to just fill up all of these cupboards so fast. And I still have more kitchen items in the dining room cabinets. It reminds me of the fish bowl analogy. Do you ever feel that you expand into the space you have and then start to think, maybe if I just had a bigger space? You likely have heard this...... "Goldfish tend to grow to the size of their fish tank or bowl" You declutter an area, let’s say a closet, and then before you know it, it’s filled up again. Can you relate to this? Good news! I have some solutions for you..... Think of your home as a container. It can only hold so much stuff. If you have a small space you might have to make some hard decisions. Do you sometimes feel like a goldfish swimming in a tiny goldfish bowl? If this is you feel free to hit reply. I'm always here cheering for you! Interesting Fact: It’s actually a myth that goldfish grow to the size of their environment. They actually do continue to grow but it's due to other factors such as good living conditions. Until next time, Happy Decluttering! P.S. Visit Space For You today for more inspiration. |

Hello Reader, I know right - Me neither! Most people would never fantasize about cleaning out the basement. lol But.......the point is that sometimes we set unrealistic goals for ourselves. If the job is too big then it is easy to sabotage our intentions. We will find anything to do other than the task at hand. We might say "oh I think I will make a full on breakfast first, or "Let's go and get some bins, garbage bags, cleaners etc."........anything but going down to the basement. Basements...

Hello Reader, Every year I attempt to get this nasty goutweed out of my garden. It’s in the front yard as well as in the back. UGH! It just keeps getting worse! The roots go so deep and they pop up underneath and spread like crazy. Honestly I cannot get a handle on it and maybe its impossible to get all of the roots. This year there are more than ever. Last year when I was working in the garden and getting rid of this terrible weed, I started to think of it as similar to clutter. If you don’t...
