Fantasizing about cleaning out your basement this weekend?

Hello Reader, I know right - Me neither! Most people would never fantasize about cleaning out the basement. lol But.......the point is that sometimes we set unrealistic goals for ourselves. If the job is too big then it is easy to sabotage our intentions. We will find anything to do other than the task at hand. We might say "oh I think I will make a full on breakfast first, or "Let's go and get some bins, garbage bags, cleaners etc."........anything but going down to the basement. Basements are often the place where things land and perhaps stay for years. Items in the basement often become part of the background and have become invisible. We come across stuff that we don't want to deal with because it's big, dirty or we don't know how to dispose of it. Ugh! No wonder we want to avoid this task. A tip I share with my clients is....... if you are working in an area where there is a lot of stuff to work through......place a sheet over the stuff you are not working on. This will help it to be less overwhelming. "Actually spending ten minutes clearing off one shelf is better than fantasizing about spending a weekend cleaning out the basement". Hello Reader, Every year I attempt to get this nasty goutweed out of my garden. It’s in the front yard as well as in the back. UGH! It just keeps getting worse! Hello Reader, The best way to declutter is when you are packing to move or packing for a renovation. Yes, we are renovating our kitchen! Ugh! I am nervous and excited!
